Recycle your packaging

Recycle. Reuse. Reduce...♻️

Holistic Kitchen is dedicated to helping reduce the amount of landfill waste.

We are all becoming a bit more conscious about how and what we recycle and that's brilliant. We are teaching our generation of children how to save the planet, something we never did it in the 1980s! I thought I would write a little bit about what I use to do my bit and hope that this could maybe help encourage others to do the same.

How you can recycle your product containers...

Product labels - These cannot be recycled so you will need to peel these off before you recycle the rest of your product packaging.

Glass bottles - Type 3 glass, which is hardwearing and tough enough to take little knocks. This glass is ideal for recycling as the glass can be re-melted and re-formed multiple times.

Plastic Caps for bottles - Made with PP plastic and can be recycled. However, you will need to check with your Local Authority to ensure it is recycled in your area.

Glass jars - Same as the glass bottles, but can be re-used for little storage containers, or even make great tea light holders!

Pipettes - you can remove the glass pipette and recycle that and check with your local authority regards the rubber top.

Plastic Handwash bottles - PET plastic which means you can put this in your recycling. Save the pump top and purchase a refill bottle for your next purchase.

Kraft Bath Salts Bags - Once you have refilled your jar of salts, simply peel the label off the front of the bag, and pop it in the recycling too.

Lip Balm tin - This can go in the recycling or reused for something like small sewing needles or pins.

Kraft card box - Most products come in these boxes, which can be put in the recycling bin along with all labels too.

Every bit of packaging you receive can be recycled or reused!

Most orders are sent out in a cardboard box, filled with Eco Flo packing chips and branded tissue paper. The cardboard box can be reused or recycled and so can the packing chips, which are 100% biodegradable. Conforming to EN13432 (The criteria for the industrial compostability of packaging) makes them suitable for domestic and municipal compost. This means you can put them on your compost patch if you have one in your garden. Or if not, add them to your household food recycling or even flush them down the toilet!

Once your order is nice and safe in its box, I use recyclable packaging tape to secure your box of goodies.

If your order has been delivered in a Green Jiffy bag, this can also be reused or recycled, including the address label.

Making small changes like this, over the years has made me feel happier. I can now say that Holistic Kitchen is really helping to play a part of the bigger picture which is reusing and recycling what we can. Every little helps right?
